Grass is always seems greener on the other side - part 2

Continue from previous post....

Let me start from a much earlier event for everyone to understand the bigger picture. The previous company I was in was acquired a huge conglomerate a year and a half before I decided to split. When that happened, I thought that everything was going to be ok but after literally all previous management left, I realised that these new guys are not going to be easy to work with. The company had grown so much when I joined to become a more MNC driven culture. Transforming the way how MNC would do it rather than typical GLC. It was an awesome time. Resistance was there but everyone looked forward for a dynamic transformation. When the new management came in, the culture was backward looking and it felt that the company was like an unorganized culture managed by arrogant pricks.

So after one and a half years with the new management, I decided to pick up one of the interview offers and attended several rounds of interviews going up higher to the COO level. I managed to skip meeting the CEO due to the rush of getting me in. I was pitching that I'm a transformation guy, process driven, want to develop people and all that shit but I never thought one of the most important element was going to be my biggest problem which is people. So anyway, despite they wanted me in quickly, I also wanted to leave even quicker. I was negotiation the package quickly and finally got the offer. I was so hyped up to join and they also used that enthusiasm to bring me in a few weeks earlier that the normal intake which usually runs the first day of the month or mid month.

So my first day...I came in the building, met HR, got my badge and my voucher to collect my company mobile and line and was pumped up to see my office that's gonna be my cockpit there. When they brought me there, I was so surprised that I have never seen such an ugly, under maintained and most of the all occupational hazardous workplace in my whole entire life. I sucked it up as I had a bunch of meetings lined up. Getting a laptop took me about a day and I was just left with my tablet which I did not even have the company's email ID to be connected to anyway. Towards the end of the day, I met up with my direct reports and most of them are chirpy, nice and I think has the potential to grow but there was a group of them which was those who has been there since forever and was not looking to change. Everything I say would be questioned whether it'll be workable there or not without the consideration trying to implement it first.

I came up with new processes and framework which I could say is best practices. The management accepted it but with some debates on additional work to be done to implement it. Now the shit kicks in....to be continued

Grass is always seems greener on the other side - part 1

Due to popular request, I've decided to write a post after so long. I've been ultimately occupied with various routine and non-routine everyday errands. I have work, side tasks, family (top priority) and many other things going on at the same time on daily basis. However today I would like to share a personal experience and thought or two about loving what you do. Every single morning, you want to wake up to things that you will look forwardto do the whole day. You first want to wake up and feel great because Allah jave graced you with life and health, being able to wake up and have your loved ones next to you knowing they are well healthy to go through their day and finally go out and make a living by doing worked you have been entrusted to do. If all this is fulfilling, you will never be dragged to start your day.

However,  in my case recently one of these daily task has not been too kind to me. I've recently shiftly from my loved job to another job in central KL foreseeing a much better, dynamic and fulfilling job but I could never be so wrong in my whole life.
