Recently I had the opportunity to visit some of the schools. Public schools, private schools and international schools. The relation that I can make from my own experience is public school will always remain as it is. Maybe what's changed could be the teachers and the work force but all the infrastructure, the arrangements, the environment are all the same as how it was when I went through it myself. For private and international school, it reminded me when I had the opportunity to go to school overseas. Nice infrastructure, teachers are most of the time chirpy (maybe because they get paid more than normal public school teachers).
However, school will always be school, it reminded me of horrific experiences in the past. I rarely have clear memory of good experience. I often have flashes of bad experience thus everytime I go to the schools now, I feel blessed not having to go through childhood again. This is unlike the experiences that my wife had during her childhood growing up in Keramat. She had the best phase of her life there.
Putting aside all personal experiences, one common thing I see is what I can conclude in one word - "sacrifice". I can see how parents send their children with full of pride, hope and expectation that their children will go through the school days grasping the knowledge required to excel in life and in turn becoming the best that they can be, even beyond what their parents can ever achieve. The parents pour their heart and soul to wake up everyday, to work their hardest to ensure that they can send their children to school. Earn enough to make sure all school supplies are ready, pocket money and all other expenses are being covered.
We as parents and working people know that we go through pain and all other political bullshit in the office. But we still go through our day in the office knowing that our future generation is much dependent on us. To all the parents out there, keep up the good work!
